NSS (National Service Scheme)
With the goal to work for the betterment of society and instill the spirit of social service among young students, Vivekanandha College of Technology for Women established the NSS at institute level. National Service Scheme (NSS) is an extension arm of the higher education system to involve student youth in community service while they are pursuing their studies, under the guidance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.
Objective
- To understand the community in which they work.
- To understand themselves in relation to their community.
- To identify the needs and problems of the community and involve themselves in problem-solving.
- To develop a sense of social and civic responsibility.
- To utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.
Currently, the NSS committee has active members from different disciplines working rigorously for community healthcare, literacy drives, and environmental protection. Blood donation camps, public awareness programmes, and informative lectures on human values are organized regularly. The aim is to nurture socially responsible engineers who work for the development of the nation.
