Knowledge Centre
Mission
The centre’s primary goal is the dissemination of knowledge (and know-how) to teachers, researchers, and students through short courses, workshops, seminars, and thematic live classes. The centre also engages in creating knowledge repositories through lectures for advanced courses by leading experts, compendia of projects, question banks, laboratory manuals and demonstrative experiments (for proof of concept), incorporating new knowledge into the curriculum, and open-source initiatives to create proper computational aids as national student initiatives/challenges. National student technological challenges and competitions follow a derive–draw–drive paradigm.
Vision
Technical education is one of the fastest-growing academic disciplines in India. A growing economy demands more technical manpower and technology creators, requiring an environment of innovation inspired by intellectual curiosity and driven by sound knowledge. Imparting high-quality technical education to increasing numbers of aspiring engineers demands a formidable group of enabled teachers with intellectual capability, rigorous training, and an exploratory frame of mind.
Good teachers ensure the right ambience of enquiry, rigour, and excitement in classrooms. A healthy academic environment is the prime mover for creating capable graduates who can act as drivers of the growth story.
VCTW aspires to create a vibrant academic environment within its Quality Circle. The primary goal is to provide teachers (and aspiring ones) the right support to grow intellectually, and to create proper teaching tools and methodologies with comprehensive aids for effective teaching.
This requires a strong platform for interaction, resource sharing, intellectual discussion, continued learning, and knowledge improvement. Such a platform should provide access for teachers and students to interact with the best minds in India and abroad. Forums for dialogue on content, new developments, teaching paradigms, thought processes, idea incubation, and academic review can catalyse overall quality improvement. Learning should be a continuous process.
Short Term Courses
The Knowledge Centre equips students and staff to go beyond classroom learning. This imposing edifice of 50,000 sq. ft. comprises five floors, three of which are dedicated to the Central Office and placement activities. The Knowledge Centre affords technology resources and academic support for research activities.
The students are specially trained through many sessions, such as:
- CAD (Computer Aided Design)
- Language Lab (Spoken & Professional Communication)
- Internet & Certification Courses (Software and Hardware)
- Software development training with resource persons (IIP)
- Multimedia courses with creative workshops
- Basic computer courses (all levels)
- Tally, etc.
The college campus is interconnected by the latest CISCO Wi-Fi network. A 20 Mbps leased-line high-speed broadband internet access is available. All departments are connected with a fibre-optic backbone to share resources from the Knowledge Centre.
The Knowledge Centre is equipped with:
- MATLAB 7.2
- SIMULINK
- Ultiboard PCB Design
- ICAP-4 and Multisim simulation
- Code Composer Studio
- Xilinx VLSI and Visual Basic software along with IEEE resources
The centre also features state-of-the-art infrastructure and a Cisco Unified Communication System with the latest technology. Coaching for IAS, IPS, IBPS, and Railway competitive exams is conducted.
