The department is well equipped with Intel Core i3 systems with 16Mbps speed of wireless internet connectivity There are around 250 systems in our established computer laboratory in addition to that the Research Department of Computer Science carries out basic and application research in many modern subject areas of computer science. Graduation students of Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science & Engineering program at Vivekananda College of Technology will attain the following program outcomes.
- The ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and computing skills to solve engineering problems.
- The ability to identify, formulate and analyze complex engineering problems related to computer science engineering.
- The ability to design IT solutions for complex engineering problems and design software /hardware or process that meet the needs of the common man for the upliftment of his / her social status.
Laboratory
Computer Programming Lab
Computer Programming Laboratory is designed to familiarize students with the basic components of programming, so as to be able to initiate the students into the discipline of Programming. It aims to start of the development of problem solving ability using computer programming.

Data Structures and Algorithms Laboratory is to develop programming skills in design and implementation of data structures and their applications.

System Software Lab
Software Systems Laboratory focuses on the experimental design, implementation, and evaluation of systems software technologies which enable the development of a wide range of emerging applications.

Object Oriented programming Lab
Object Oriented programming Laboratory is to strengthen their problem solving ability by applying the characteristics of an object-oriented approach.
- To strengthen ability to design and represent solutions to problems using UML notations.
- To introduce object oriented concepts in C++ and Java.
Operating Systems Lab
Operating Systems Laboratory is to implement the following on LINUX or other Unix like platform. Use C for high level language implementation.
Network Programming Lab
Network Programming laboratory students acquire skills of computer networking. They develop programs related to network programming and network communication in different computer languages on various platforms. This laboratory also has various network simulators.
Object Oriented Analysis and Design Lab
Object Oriented Analysis and Design Laboratory is mainly used for develop a mini project.
Data Base Management System Lab
Data Base Management System Laboratory is to develop the ability to design, implement and manipulate databases as well as to build Database management systems.
Internet Programming Lab
Internet Programming Laboratory is to learn the concepts of website designing, client& server side programming and web services.
Multimedia and Graphics Lab
Multimedia and Graphics laboratory is to support research and education of Computer Science students in the fields of Multimedia Technology such as image editing, photo-retouching, web design, etc.
The laboratory currently has 36 PC workstations with a variety of software. Other resources of the laboratory including Digital Camera, Web Cam, Head Phone, Flat Bed Scanner, Printer etc.
The department has the enhanced server technology named BLADE SERVER for higher server virtualization deployments.
